RS232/485/422 2 way serial data communication, motion detection, sensor and alarm I/O.
Specialists in the video over IP industry, with over 15 years experience, Antrica have been meeting the video encoding and decoding demands of markets across the world. Their products are renowned for high quality, reliability, performance, compatibility and integration.
RS232/485/422 two-way serial data communication enables the operator to send commands to, and from the encoder. Serial data can be used for any purpose, but in CCTV, RS485 has become a standard for sending Pan Tilt Zoom camera control signals to the remote PTZ camera.
Protocols have been developed by all the major PTZ camera manufacturers, but the PELCO-D standard is widely considered the industry standard . Antrica encoders support a large majority of these protocols, as well as CLEAR mode where we just pass serial data, and do not take any notice of the protocol. Serial data can also be used to control other local equipment near the encoder.
The motion detection features in encoders are used to help the VMS recording system or the local edge-recording system. Motion detection starts recording in most cases to avoid wasting recording space on images, where nothing is happening. A camera in a car park can be watching stationary cars for hours on end, but the minute a person moving or car moving is detected, the recording process starts.
Sensor Inputs and Alarm Outputs are (as the name suggests) inputs and outputs from an encoder that can be used to trigger recording (Sensor) or an Alert (Alarm) . A door sensor can tell the encoder that a door has been opened, and cause the encoder to stream, record or both. Alarm outputs do the opposite, and trigger a bell or other localised alert.
